OSLO: ZHA SIGNS THE NEW SUBWAY STATION OF THE FUTURE - MARZO

The new subway stations of Fornbuporten and Fornebu Senter (Oslo) will be signed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) and A-Lab, and they will connect emerging districts to the city center. The five-kilometer-long Fornebubanen subway line will cross an underground tunnel and connect six stations, two of which will be designed by the ZHA to reflect the breathtaking panorama of Norway, characterized by hilly islands, rocky glaciers and northern lights. At Fornebu Senter station, on the other hand, the buildings will evoke the mountains and the fjords, thanks to the use of canyon-like curves that will direct the flow of commuters to and from the road. Both stations will be flooded by a lunar lighting, that varies depending on the time of the day and symbolizes the changing sky of Oslo: this lunar light will define the play of light of both stations, from which it will take only 12 minutes to reach the city center. The construction of the Fornebubanen metro line, which will also revolutionize the "social geography" of Oslo by bringing communities together, will probably start in 2020 and will be completed by 2025.
